Dentures

Dentures are prosthetic devices constructed to replace missing teeth, and are supported by surrounding soft and hard tissues of the oral cavity. Conventional dentures are removable however there are many different denture designs, some which rely on clasping onto teeth. The dentures that clasp on to remaining teeth are considered to be partial dentures. When there are no teeth present in the jaw, they are considered to be full dentures.

Dentures are custom made to fit each individual and require several appointments to idealize the appearance and function.

Dentures Can Help By:

  • Improving chewing ability- Dentures replace edentulous areas (areas lacking teeth) with denture teeth and create more areas where teeth in the upper and lower jaw meet thereby improving mastication.
  • Improving esthetics- Replacing edentulous areas with teeth provide a natural facial appearance and also helps support the lips and cheeks. Dentures can correct the “sunken-in look” that occurs after losing teeth.
  • Improving speech- Pronunciation can be improved upon by having the front teeth in a position to allow the tongue to create hard letter sounds such as “d” and “t”.
  • Improving self esteem- Dentures can improve your appearance and smile.
